The journey of SABI

South African biologists was introduced to Global Bioimaging (GBI) in 2014. An expression of interest to join the Global Bioimaging community team, driven by the efforts of Prof Trevor Sewell and supported by enthusiastic microscopists like prof Ben Loos and prof Dirk Lang, was signed. A national meeting was held in Cape Town in October 2016 at the University of Cape Town, and a first small SABI introductory meeting in October 2018 at Stellenbosch University. Effort was made to represent South Africa at the global GBI meetings with active participation in various working groups. Now, SABI is an enthusiastic, growing community.
